Edward Drummond Libbey has almost 350 acres of fields, forests and ravines. The resident
camp program during the summer months offers a variety of programs for girls that include
swimming, canoeing, horseback riding, archery, crafts and more.

What happened? Where did they go? Clues, excitement, and suspense are just part of the fun. Solve a camp crime as you collect evidence, search for clues, interview suspects, and crack the case. Blazin’ Saddles
Be a rodeo cowgirl. Work on rodeo skills such as pole-weaving, flagging, and vaulting. Further your rodeo skills with trick roping and making lead ropes. Surf and Turf
Get ready for adventure! Spend time learning to sail, about aquatic biology, geology, and more. Start off learning to sail with a partner on small sail boats, then graduate to sailing larger ships as a team. Also, take a science cruise where you measure environmental conditions, collect plankton, research algae, find macro invertebrates, and use a fish
trawl to collect members of Lake Erie’s fish community. During this trip you will get to explore the Geology and History of some of Lake Erie’s

Learn what it takes to be a ranch hand by spending extra time at the corral. Mornings will include tacking up, horse care, feeding, and girl planned horseback riding activities. Afternoons will be spent riding and

This in-depth one and a half week opportunity allows girls to expand on their wrangler skills and riding experience from WIT I. WIT II’s will receive specialized riding instruction and be involved in day to day horse activities, such as helping with riding program opportunities, trail development, horse training, and teaching. They will also work on drill
team skills and do a performance for the rest of camp. Girls will have 10 hours of riding time. Fifteen hours of previous riding experience required, in addition to completing WIT I. WIT II is a prerequisite to WIT III and/or Ranch Hands. (Wed July 8 - Fri July 16). Min/Max: 4/6

Wrangler-In-Training III (WIT III)
This intensive two-week opportunity allows girls to live and breathe life at the corral. In addition to Western riding, girls will work on instruction skills and teach what they know to other riding groups, as well as receive an introduction to English riding, pony training and cart driving. Girls will participate in all of the daily work of the corral including tacking horses and barn upkeep. After learning new pack and trail
skills, the highlight of this opportunity will be an overnight pack-out trip on horseback. Fifteen hours of previous riding experience required, in addition to completing WIT II. Participants will go home over the weekend July 23–25. Min/Max: 4/6

Ranch Hands
This is a session for the experienced WIT II. Ranch
Hands will spend three weeks at camp putting to work all of the knowledge they have gained over the years. For the first week, spend time at the corral polishing up your riding skills and participating in a girl-planned riding program. Also receive training on working at the corral as a Riding Assistant. The second week will be spent participating in basic leadership training in the CIT program, with some time spent at the corral fulfilling Ranch Hand duties. In the third week, learn what it means to be a counselor as you are assigned to a unit to help with the supervision of campers in a horse session. Girls must have competed WIT II or WIT III at Camp Libbey to sign up for this opportunity. Participants will go home over the weekends of July 16–18 and July 23–25. Min/Max: 4/6

Counselors Aide Training I (CAT I)
This opportunity is for girls who have completed their Program Aide Training but are not yet old enough to be a Counselor-In-Training (CIT). Girls will work as counselor aides during the week, helping with
the supervision of girls in the units, planning program opportunities, learning what it takes to be a great counselor and completing basic training requirements. This is a great introduction to the CIT program. CAT’s will spend nights in their own unit and receive on-going supervision and leadership guidance from the CIT Director. This opportunity is for the aspiring camp counselor. CIT I’s will spend two weeks at Camp learning about programming, outdoor skills, safety, age and social characteristics, first aid, songs, games, and much more. CIT’s experience the challenges and rewards of working with younger girls. This opportunity consists of a week of training that will include mentoring/shadowing and a week of general internship. Girls will earn their CIT I pin (provided). Participants will go home over the weekend Friday–Sunday. Min/Max: 5/8

Counselor In Training II (CIT II)
This is for the CIT who is ready to specialize. CIT II’s will attend and participate in the 9 day pre-camp training with all of the camp staff , and then select two weeks to return to camp to complete their internship. One week of internship will be as a unit counselor followed by one week in the area of their choosing. After successful completion, participants
will be awarded a CIT II pin (provided). Girls must complete a minimum of two weeks internship to qualify for the CIT II pin; however, they may be invited to return for additional weeks of service. Participants will stay at camp over the weekend of training (June 4-6) but will typically go home over the weekends between internship weeks. CIT II’s attend Pre-Camp Training which begins at Camp Whip-Poor-Will and ends at Camp Libbey. Internship weeks can be done at either camp. Min/Max: 3/10
