Day Camps in the Maumee Valley Region
Girls are invited to attend any and as many camp(s) of their choice. This summer, Day Camp opportunities are being offered to provide girls with an exciting, specialized camp experience. In the Maumee Valley Region, day camp is a daytime experience and can be a one-day workshop or a program that lasts three to five consecutive days with a special-interest theme. Some may feature Try-It or badge work while others offer skill or leadership development and one even offers an overnight opportunity. Each day camp will differ in its daily schedule; however, most camps run Monday through Friday and times vary depending on the camp.

Registration
We encourage you to register at least three weeks prior to the start date of the camp of your choice. If minimum participation is not met we reserve the right to cancel programs. If space is available after the “Register by” date and the program is going, we will contact the provider to determine the possibility of adding more participants.

Adult/Girl Ratio
Because camp is a place for girls to make new friends, girls will be grouped with girls from different troops. Applications are processed individually, not as groups or troops. A day camp closes when the maximum number of campers for that camp has been reached. Day camp capacities may be impacted by the number of volunteers available to staff the camp. All Girl Scouts of Western Ohio - Maumee Valley Region camps follow the Safety-Wise guidelines for adult/girl ratios: Brownie Girl Scout (Grades 1-3), 2:12; Junior Girl Scout (Grades 4-6), 2:16; Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts (Grades 7-12), 2:20. Maximum numbers, in most cases, are based on adult volunteer participation.

T-Shirts/ Patches/Badges
Most Day Camp fees include a 2008 Day Camp T-shirt unless stated otherwise. Camps that do not include a T-shirt are identified. This is our effort to help keep costs at a minimum. All girls will receive a day camp patch unless stated otherwise. Some of the camps focus on a specific Brownie Try-It, Junior Badge, STUDIO 2B Focus Book or Interest Patch (IP) for 11-17 year olds. However earned Girl Scout badges, charms and patches are not included in the cost of the camp.

Weather Conditions
In the event of severe weather (thunderstorms with lightning or tornado watch or warning), Girl Scouts of Western Ohio - Maumee Valley Region reserves the right to cancel camp activities. Our prime concern is the safety of our campers. No refunds or alteration in fees will be made. Call the Girl Scout Service Center or listen to your local radio station for cancellations or delays.

Tag-A-Longs
Tag-a-Long children are non-registered girls, preschool boys and girls and 6 to 11 year-old boys. Tag-a-longs cannot be brought to council-sponsored day camps.

Volunteers Are Needed!
Our day camps are staffed by adult volunteers and trained Program Aides willing to accept leadership roles. We have a deep gratitude for these adults because they keep our day camp programs affordable. There are many roles for adults: director, unit leader or unit assistant. Camp directors and unit assistants are needed at day camps. Moms, dads, aunts, uncles, grandparents and other adult friends are invited to volunteer.

Adults volunteering, who have not already completed the Volunteer Application with three references, will be asked to do so prior to the start of the camp volunteering for.

Camp Director - a volunteer who has agreed to be in charge of the camp. The camp director must attend every day and is responsible for the paperwork, supervision and, in some cases, the planning and implementation of the program. The camp director must be first-aid and CPR certified. (Please include a copy of certification cards with volunteer application.)

Unit Assistant - may be in charge of attendance, paperwork, assisting with program and supervision of children.

All volunteers are required to attend a mandatory training.
