During the summer months, Camp Butterworth serves approximately 150 day campers ages 6-13 each week. Hiking, orienteering, swimming, nature, arts and crafts are just a few of the program activities campers may participate in each week.

Note: Resident camp opportunities for Great Rivers Region will be held at Camp Whip-Poor-Will.

DAY CAMP

Butterworth Day Camp allows girls to experience the outdoors yet return to the comforts of home each evening. This is perfect for the girl who is not ready to spend a week away from home. Each week offers a variety of special opportunities to make day camp the perfect match for each girl. Girls attending day camp must bring a packed lunch each day and girls are welcome to experience an overnight at camp on Thursday for an additional cost of $15. The overnight will include cooking over a fire, sleeping in platform tents, and lots of camp fun!

Sessions run 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Staff are not available at Camp Butterworth to be with your camper until 9 a.m. If you need to bring your camper early please contact Mary Beth King at the Great Rivers Regional Office.

There is a 15 minute grace period for pick up, this also applies to bus stop pick ups. After 15 minutes there will be charge of $10 for each 15 minutes you are late to pick up your child, unless specific arrangements are made in advance.

BUS TRANSPORTATION

For your convenience, bus transportation will be provided for Camp Butterworth day campers. Please refer to the camp registration form for the bus stops available each week. Times and emergency contact information for each bus stop chosen, will be included in the camper confirmation information. Typical times will be pick-up at 8 a.m. with drop off between 4:30 and 5 p.m. If your child will travel by bus, please choose one bus stop where your camper will get on and off. There must be at least 20 campers riding the bus each week for the bus to run as scheduled.

Camp staff members will ride the bus each day with the campers. The camp staff are responsible for the safety of the campers on and off the bus.

If your camper misses her bus, you are responsible for her travel to camp. If you miss a drop-off, your camper will not be left at the stop. The bus will wait a few minutes, but in order to maintain a schedule, the bus will need to move on. You can either meet your camper at another bus stop or she will be taken to the nearest police station where you may pick her up.
