Located near the Little Miami river on 505 acres of land Camp Whip-Poor-Will has a wide variety of living areas from platform tents to Conestoga wagons. Ravines give way to small creeks which make excellent spots for creek hikes and fossil hunting. A small pond, high ropes, and low ropes as well as an archery range, swimming pool and craft area are other features at Camp Whip-Poor-Will.


Note: Day Camp opportunities for Buckeye Trails Region will be held at Camp Butterworth.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Girl Scouts of Western Ohio believes in the power of volunteers. Camp Whip-Poor-Will is always looking for volunteers with a wide range of talents and expertise. There are several opportunities in which your help is needed. Volunteers will fill out an application, provide references and go through an interview process. All volunteers are required to go through this process including current Girl Scout volunteers.

Do you want to volunteer?

  1. Call Great Rivers regional office for an application packet.

  2. Submit application and provide three references.

  3. Interview with the camp director.

  4. Review all written materials before camp.

Incentive Program for Camp Whip Poor Will

 

1 – 5 hours: free camp t-shirt

5+ hours: 1% off camp fee for every hour volunteered (up to 100%), less the $30 deposit

Full Week: free camp registration, less the $30 deposit (Additional training is required for all volunteers)

Volunteer Opportunity Opportunity Description Time Commitment
Camp Activity Leader Partner with camp staff to share a skill 1-3 hours in a single session
Check-in Volunteer Assist with camper check-in on Sunday 3-5 hours on Sunday
High Adventure Chaperone Adult chaperone to participate in local and/or out of state adventure trips.  Must be 21 years of age. One week Sunday - Friday, to go on week long adventure trip
Unit Assistant Partner with camp staff to provide activity assistance. One week, Sunday - Friday, overnight stay optional.

ME AND MY GAL

Grades Entering: 1 & up

This is a special camp experience planned just for girls entering the first grade and above and their favorite female adult. This is a great opportunity to experience camp and try out some new things together. A few of the things girls might have the opportunity to do are:


• Sleep in a platform tent
• Enjoy arts and crafts
• Eat meals that are prepared for you
• Take a dip in the pool
• Sing around the campfire
• And so much more

Participants will enjoy this special time at Camp Whip-Poor-Will trying many activities and spending quality time together. Activities will include a mixture of structured and self-directed program activities.

 

Also available at Camp Stonybrook & Camp Whip Poor Will during the same dates.

Non-Guardian adult campers must have a signed permission slip from the legal parent/guardian of the girl.
